Guided Tours of our Recycling Center

**Ecology Action staff is also available for speaking engagements large and small, presentations, and media opportunities.** Have you ever wondered what it takes to run a grass roots recycling center? Schedule a free tour of Ecology Action and see for yourself.

The tour begins with the sorting process, so you'll want to bring some recyclables with you. From there we follow each material on its path through our recycling center. You will learn how the most important resource at Ecology Action is saving space. Some of the highlights on the tour:

  • The Forklift,
  • The Balers, and
  • The Famous Worm Bin.

We specialize in tours for kids and adult from 1 to 100!

Dear Ecology Action,

I have a 4 year old son, Alec Yax, who attends Hyde Park Preschool. His class recently went on a field trip to the recycling center on 9th Street and I was a volunteer mom. I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much everyone enjoyed the tour. I can't decide if the fork-lift demonstration or the compost worms were the biggest hit, but the kids LOVED both immensely. The enthusiasm of our guide (I'm terrible with names, but I believe it was John) was so infectious we couldn't help but to get excited about recycling. I myself learned quite a deal about what can be made from recycled goods. The t-shirt was an amazing example!
I have been inspired to start recycling here at home as a result. We use to recycle some time ago, but the service was discontinued in our area and we became lax in our efforts. Now that I see how much work you guys do there, I have made a promise to myself to pick up where I have previously left off. Thank you for doing what you do. I'm sure your job is much too often a thankless one and one that is not as understood by the masses at it should be.
My son will be attending Hyde Park Preschool again next year, so he and I both look forward already to another field trip to Ecology Action. Thanks again for getting the kids excited about something that is so important to everyone.
